Uttarakhand High Court disposes PIL seeking necessary steps to conduct preliminary inquiry on representation of petitioner

The Uttarakhand High Court disposed of a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed seeking direction to the respondents to take necessary steps/ action and to conduct a preliminary inquiry on the representation of the petitioner whereby the Petitioner had made a request to the Vice Chancellor, HNB Uttarakhand Medical University to strictly follow the norms laid down by the Indian Nursing Council.

By means of the Petition, the petitioner has sought the following reliefs :

Issue a writ, order or direction in nature of mandamus directing the respondents to take necessary steps/ action and to conduct a preliminary inquiry on the representation of the petitioner dated 10-10-2023.

Issue a writ, order or direction in nature of mandamus directing the concerned respondents to take strictly implement of directions mentioned in letter dated 19-10-2022 issued by the Indian Nursing Council.

On perusal of the said representation , the Division Bench of Acting Chief Justice Manoj Kumar Tiwari and Justice Rakesh Thapliyal noted that the petitioner has made a request to the Vice Chancellor, HNB Uttarakhand Medical University to strictly follow the norms laid down by the Indian Nursing Council.

The Senior Counsel for the petitioner confines his prayer that the representation made by the petitioner be considered by the competent authority of the said University.

“We, accordingly, dispose of this Writ Petition, with a request to the Registrar, HNB Uttarakhand Medical University to consider petitioner’s representation, and take appropriate decision on the same one way or the other expeditiously”, the order reads.
