Punjab and Haryana High Court dismisses PIL against Faridabad’s International Convention Centre

The Punjab and Haryana High Court dismissed as infructuous a Public Interest Litigation (PIL)  filed raising the alleged public cause that construction of International Convention Centre, Sector 78, Faridabad has been entrusted to Executive Engineer, Haryana Shehari Vikash Pradhikaran (HSVP), Electrical Division, Faridabad, whereas it should have been entrusted to an Executive Engineer (Civil).

The PIL has been filed by NGO Nurture Foundation. The counsel for respondent has filed a short reply by way of affidavit of the Secretary, HSVP, Panchkula in the Court , which is taken on record, inter-alia, informing that the construction work of the said Convention Centre which was earlier entrusted to Executive Engineer (Electrical) was merely a stop gap arrangement and the same has now been entrusted to Executive Engineer (Civil), HSVP Division No. 5, Gurugram vide   order dated 18.07.2024. 

He submits that the petition as such has become infructuous which is not disputed  by the Counsel for the Petitioner.

In view of the aforesaid facts, the Division Bench of Chief Justice Sheel Nagu and Justice Anil Kshetarpal  petition stands dismissed the Petition as infructuous.
