Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud, along with other Judges of the Supreme Court have felicitated Pragya, the daughter of a cook in the Apex Court, for securing a scholarship to study Master’s in Law at two different Universities in the US.
A leading news agency released a 40-second video, in which the CJI and all other judges of the Supreme Court were seen congratulating Pragya. She was also given a book signed by all Apex Court judges.
The girl said she felt privileged and an honoured to receive such warmth from the CJI and other SC judges.
Stating that it was a matter of pride for everyone in the Court, the CJI also felicitated Pragya’s mother and her father Ajay Kumar Samal, who has been working as a cook in the Apex Court.
Speaking on the occasion, CJI Chandrachud said that if a hard-working student or person wanted to move forward, then he would definitely find resources.
It was not just the responsibility of the government, but also of the citizens to ensure that every child, who wanted to pursue higher studies or excel in sports, was able to achieve his/her dreams.
A hard-working student not getting adequate resources should not happen in the country, he added.
