Chief Justice of India D.Y. Chandrachud on Thursday inaugurated the new canteen in the Additional Building Complex of the Supreme Court.
The new canteen is spread over an area of about 300 square meters with seating capacity for 120 persons. It would remain open from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm on working days of the Registry.
Equipped with the most modern appliances, the kitchen of the new canteen will dish out popular dishes from North and South India during breakfast and lunch hours. Besides, it will serve snacks and beverages.
The well-ventilated area boasts of central air-conditioning and has abundant natural light, giving a comfortable feel to the customers and staff.
The place would offer good eating facilities for the Members of the Bar, their staff, visitors, litigants and staff of the coordinate agencies and the Registry staff.
Earlier on July 17, the CJI and several Apex Court judges visited the cafeteria at the Supreme Court premises.
A statement issued by the top court of the country said that the CJI, along with judges of the Supreme Court of India, enjoyed a cup of coffee at the Cafeteria of the Supreme Court after a long day of marathon hearings and a Constitutional Bench sitting.
The CJI further met the executive members of the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) earlier in the day and interacted on various issues, added the statement.
