The Adv Lily Thomas Memorial Lecture Series 4.0 will be held in Delhi on July 26. The winner of Lily Thomas Essay Competition 2023 will be announced during the lecture.
Organiser Advocate Saju Jakob said the event will be held at the Indian Society of International Law near the Supreme Court from 4.45 pm. The topic of the lecture will be Constitution/Lily Thomas vs Union of India.
In a statement, Jakob called on all lawyers in the Supreme Court and in and around Delhi, to attend the event and to remember Lily Thomas’ contributions. He added she was personally and closely connected to many of them during her lifetime.
Thomas came to Delhi in the late 1950s / early 1960s and practised law here in Delhi ever since. As a single woman, she fought her battle alone with the support of her peers in the fraternity, Jakob said.
Former Supreme Court CJI KG Balakrishnan, former Supreme Court judge Justice (retd) AK Patnaik, Netaji Subhas Bose’s daughter Dr Anita Bose, Senior Advocate Pravin Parekh, Senior Advocate Mahalakshmi Pavani, Subharti University VC Maj Gen (retd) GK Thapliyal and Additional Secretary Narinder Singh will be among the speakers. The event will be followed by high tea.
