Electoral bonds case:Supreme Court denies urgent hearing to CII, FICCI and ASSOCHAM against sharing of alphanumeric numbers

The Supreme Court on Monday was approached by the Industry bodies CII, FICCI, ASSOCHAM today against sharing of alphanumeric numbers assigned to electoral bonds.

The Industry bodies were however refused urgent hearing by the Supreme Court.

The Supreme Court has directed the State Bank of India (SBI) for making all the details available to be shared.

The Court very clearly instructed that SBI should not be selective in disclosing details.

The Industry bodies CII, FICCI, and ASSOCHAM asked for an urgent hearing in the matter by the Apex Court which was refused to them.

The Industry bodies argued that they are comfortable with the names of donors and recipients being disclosed.

FICCI, CII and ASSOCHAM claimed to have moved the court after the court issued notice to the SBI on declaring alpha-numeric serial numbers.

The industry bodies had been seeking deferral of the orders asking for the declaration of alphanumeric numbers.

The court today morning has pulled up the SBI ordering it to disclose serial number details to the Election Commission, while directing the poll panel to publish it forthwith.

The SBI chairman Dinesh Khara was asked by the Supreme Court to file an affidavit before March 21 confirming that no bond details have been withheld.

The Apex court clearly stated that the disclosure details should include – the date, name of the donor, denomination, and details of parties receiving contributions.
