Punjab and Haryana High Court disposes PIL seeking directions to make arrangements for free access to Jang-E-Azadi Memorial at Kartarpur

The Punjab and Haryana High Court disposed of a Public Interest Litigation (PIL)  seeking direction to the respondents to make adequate arrangements for citizens of India by giving free of cost access for visiting Jang-E-Azadi Memorial at Kartarpur, Jalandhar as free access is given to citizens to visit other memorial including Jallianwala Bagh Amritsar, Bhagat Singh Memorial Khatkarkalan, SBS Nagar, Virasat-e-Khalsa, Anandpur Sahib.

The PIL has been filed by one Nitin Mitto.

The Division Bench of Acting Chief Justice Ritu Bahri and Justice Nidhi Gupta noted that the petitioner has made representations dated 28.11.2023 to the respondents in this regard.

Without expressing any opinion on the merits of the case, the petition is being disposed of by the High Court  by giving direction to respondent No. 1 (State of Punjab)  to decide representations dated 28.11.2023  by passing a speaking order in accordance with law
