The Punjab High Court disposed of a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed seeking direction to the respondents to initiate high level inquiry to investigate the ongoing corruption in the Department of Excise and Taxation, Haryana in pursuance to the practice of setting up illegal liquor vends/sub vends in violation of Haryana Excise Policies .
The PIL has been filed by one Ashwani Kumar.
Vijay Pal , counsel for the petitioner submits that he has made a detailed representation dated 16.06.2023 to the respondents for redressal of his grievances but till date no action has been taken thereon.
Keeping in view the aforesaid facts and circumstances, the Division Bench of Acting Chief Justice Ritu Bahri and Justice Nidhi Gupta disposed of the Petition with a direction to respondent to decide the representation dated 16.06.2023 filed by the petitioner in accordance with law within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a certified copy of this order.
