The Punjab High Court disposed of a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed seeking directions to the respondents to remove the blockage at Housing Board Chowk connecting at Madhya Marg by erecting tents and blocking the exit and entry route for Panchkula from Chandigarh causing huge traffic jams on Chandigarh-Shimla highway also and the roads of Panchkula.
In compliance with the directions given by the Court, a compliance report dated 03.5.2023 IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Panchkula, on behalf of respondent has been filed.
As per the said compliance report dated 03.5.2023, the respondents have placed on record letter dated 13.3.2023 and letter dated 02.5.2023 collectively to show that standard operating procedure has been adopted.
The State counsel also submits that the Administration will improvise the arrangements in future also as per situations.
Considering the same , the Division Bench of Justice Ritu Bahri and Justice Nidhi Gupta disposed the PIL.
